Absolute ????!!!
In 2009 I fully dislocated my knee. I was out for 6 months and lost all of the muscle strength in my leg. After the dislocation I was offered an operation on my leg to restructure the ligaments around my knee. As I have hypermobility, lots of the ligaments in my body are lax. I turned down the operation as it was a 6 month recovery period and was told I can just keep my quad strong to prevent the dislocation happening again. It’s taken me 5 years to build up the quad muscle in my leg again.
When I first started training with Ryan I was implementing a lot of impact on my knee. This caused my knee to inflame and cause me incledible amounts of pain. For me it was frustrating and heart breaking that I couldn’t do the exercises I wanted to do. Things like lunges and sets of squats with high weights. Rather than telling Ryan when it hurt I would carry on and cause myself even more injury. Ryan advised me to go and see his Physiotherapist at Oakfields. I went to my appointment and the physiotherapist was honest and said that they was nothing he could do for me and for Ryan to carry on working through the rehab programme with me. He moved me off lunges and squats and on to deadlifts, straight and bent legs. As already mentioned I found it so frustrating, but was constantly reminded that it is the best thing to do. Now I am coming to the end of my rehab and have still made huge amounts of progress with my leg strength. In fact in my whole body I can see a difference. I have had to be patient, I knew the results wouldn’t happen over night. But Ryan was more concerned about my well being than the money he earned from the session. He doesn’t just take an interest in the sessions he is loyal and works hard to make sure that you have the right plan for your body and what your body can do. I trust that all the exercises I do with him are helping me progress in my fitness and strength.
Too many personal trainers today are all about making the money and doing it fast. They don’t take the time to get to know you and what your body can do. Ryan is the best personal trainer I have worked with and I wouldn’t trust any other person to train me as hard as he does and get me the results I want.
Ryan’s style of PT is different to any other I have done before as he targets the training to your specific needs taking into account posture, muscle imbalance and weakness and refines each exercise to suit body type.
The training is not one size fits all and he can adjust and adapt the days training, if required, depending on what is required.
Ryan is extremely supportive and passionate about helping you to reach your desired end goal and he is very responsive if you have any questions outside of your training session.
He is very knowledgeable in nutrition and anatomy and physiology and is happy to share this knowledge to help with personal outcomes.
Ryan works alongside an osteopath and will refer and then liaise with the osteopath so that he is aware of which muscles need to be worked, in order to provide optimal targeted training.
I started working with Ryan due to some muscle imbalances and a weak posterior chain and since training 2-3 times a week my body has greatly improved. I feel stronger, am in less pain and my posture has improved.
I have attended general fitness classes and private 1-1 PT sessions in the past but have always ended up with aches and pains afterwards or muscle imbalance leading to injury. Working with Ryan has stopped all of that and I feel stronger and healthier since working with him.
I wanted to give massive credit to Ryan Worthington Personal Training, Ryan Worthington for helping me get in the best shape of my life.
I’d managed to lose just under a stone in weight since January by undertaking a little challenge with my neighbours but had definitely hit a plateau and couldn’t crack through the 12 stone mark and I didn’t have much enthusiasm for exercise beyond cycling (which has been causing me a hip complaint), so in early June 2021 I took the plunge with Ryan, who I knew and who had fairly recently opened a gym facility in Horndon-on-the-Hill.
I signed up to multiple sessions per week, including 1-2-1 and group HIIT/Cardio/Strength and the improvement in how I feel is amazing. I was given a postural assessment and exercises to do at home to ensure that I got the best results I could from the sessions because I had previous injuries so I had to do daily exercises to strengthen the weaker areas. I was jubious about starting but am so happy that I did!!!!
I am much stronger already than when I started which means my manual job is not quite so punishing and I have definitely developed an appreciation (I won’t call it a passion yet) for lifting weights. The biggest surprise to me were the HIIT sessions. As I’ve got older, exercise has become all about slow and steady endurance, hence the cycling, so to sprint for 30 or 45 seconds on a ski, row or assault bike machine was the last thing I wanted to do, but now I see it as a challenge to get the heart rate up and it seems to stay there for most of the day burning fat!
Ryan has a very unique approach and is entirely client focussed and he always builds from the ground up, correcting health and posture issues before moving on too quickly, avoiding injuries and preparing you for a life long journey into fitness, I for one am loving and cannot recommend him enough as I think the investment is terrific value.
The other clients are all local and are lovely people, everyone is there for the same reason for some motivation to live a healthier, happier life. The group sessions are fantastic with camaraderie and banter, it’s like one big family.
I have tried many ways to lose weight and failed many times, I was introduced to Ryan and wow did he help me.
After talking to Ryan it become apparent that the failings in weight lose could be down to food allergies, he referred me to the nutritional therapist he works with and between the 3 of us we come up with a plan.
I hated exercise I had never enjoyed it, I never had the energy to do it to be honest, but following the nutritionists advise and eating what I was told I suddenly had energy infact once I started the exercise I had never felt so good.
I started off doing 1-2-1 training and then moved into the small groups when Ryan felt I was ready and I have lost a massive 30kgs!!!!!!!!
